Will Apple drop the “Beats” headphones?

“Music is such an important part of all of our lives and holds a special place within our hearts at Apple,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “That’s why we have kept investing in music and are bringing together these extraordinary teams so we can continue to create the most innovative music products and services in the world.”
It has been an estimated four months since Apple made the announcement to acquire both Beats music and Beats electronics back in May. As part of the deal, the co-founders of the Beats company Jimmy Lovin and Dr. Dre will also join Apple. Apple has purchased the two companies (Beats Music and Beats Electronics) for a total of $3 billion, “consisting of a purchase price of approximately $2.6 billion and approximately $400 million that will vest over time.” (via apple.com/applepressinfo)
After the announcement that Apple was taking over the Beats company, Beats had released a five minute campaign ad in celebration of the World Cup. Within this ad, the iPhone5s appears numerous times, along with the Studio, Pro, Solo 2, and other notable styles of the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. You will also recognize celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Lebron James, Serena Williams and Stuart Scott making an appearance throughout the video. Who of course in the past have had features with Beats by Dr. Dre themselves.
Another video starring the Beats Pill mascots and Siri was posted on the Beats Electronics Twitter account back in August, making another announcement of Apple’s acquisition of the company. However, we still have yet to really hear anything about new products, apps, releases, just simple ad campaigns of their announcements.
“I’ve always known in my heart that Beats belonged with Apple,” said Jimmy Iovine. “The idea when we started the company was inspired by Apple’s unmatched ability to marry culture and technology. Apple’s deep commitment to music fans, artists, songwriters and the music industry is something special.”
As the loyal fans we are, we are still waiting to hear about the surprising or shocking new substances this collaboration plans to give its fans.
