Virginia Senator Attacked in home

Creigh Deeds a Virginia State Senator was found early Tuesday, Nov. 19  stabbed in his home in Bath County, Va.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman, Corinne Geller, confirmed in a press conference that Sen. Creigh Deeds was stabbed multiple times in head and upper torso by his 24-year-old son, Austin ‘Gus’ Deeds. After the attack on the father by the son, Gus Deeds died from a self administered gun shot wound.

Upon the arrival of authorities at the Deeds home at 7:25 am, Sen. Deeds was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville where he remains in critical condition.

In 2005,  Sen. Deeds ran as the Democratic nominee for Virginia’s attorney general, but lost to the Republican nominee Bob McDonell. Deeds ran again in 2009 for Virginia’s governor but then lost again to McDonell.
