Come on out from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 30 on the academic quad in front of the Student Service Center for the United Way Fest! There will be free Rita’s Italian Ice, pizzas, yard games and more. The goal of the United Way Fest is to educate Bloomsburg University students about the opportunities that United Way of Columbia and Montour Counties has to offer while enjoying a fun day in the sun! There will be United Way representatives as well as student-run information tables about the many establishments that United Way assists.
United Way is an organization that helps community volunteers contribute to their counties. Therefore, they offer great opportunities for students to gain volunteer hours in an impactful way that truly helps the community.
United Way focuses on finding and helping to find solutions for health, education, and income issues. They see these three core issues as the building blocks for a good quality of life and a strong community.
This organization has been thriving throughout the community for 60 years. They pride themselves on their ability to identify the human service needs of Columbia and Montour Counties. They form new collaborations with existing organizations and find new solutions to community problems. In doing this they are developing community resources that are available to all residents.
