Zendaya Inspired Barbie Doll

What is one toy every little girl growing up admires? Barbie dolls. Three Barbie dolls are sold per second somewhere in the world  so it’s clear that they are very popular. Imagine what it would be like for you to have a Barbie doll made in your image. It would be every little girls dream. Girls growing up look at Barbie as someone they want to be, and there are many different Barbie’s with different occupations showing girls can do anything.  Zendaya Coleman was honored that Mattel created a doll in her image. Who else would be better than Zendaya to empower girls and show them they should be proud of who they are.  Her first appearance with her doll was on Sept. 26. Zendaya hosted the Barbie Rock’N Royals concert experience at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood where she proudly showed off her new Barbie doll.

imagesThere was a lot of controversy about Zendaya’s 2015 Oscar’s red carpet look. She wore her hair in dreadlocks which
Giuliana Rancic commented on. Rancic said, “Like I feel like she smells like patchouli oil and or weed.”  This comment caused controversy about race. The Barbie doll was created to represent Zendaya’s Vivienne
Westwood gown worn to the Oscars and the dreadlocks she rocked there as well.  It shows girls of all ages they should be proud of who they are and how they look.

Zendaya also took to Instagram and wrote “When I was little I couldn’t find a Barbie that looked like me, my…how times have changed. Thank you Barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be a part of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty.”imgres

Other famous celebs have even commented on Zendaya’s doll such as, rapper Nicki Minaji saying on Instagram, “I love your doll’s hair; I love what it means for other little girls who will identify with it & be empowered.” She also jokingly said that her Barbie and Zendaya’s should have, “… matching bff Barbie cars with the dream house to match.”

Demi Lovato even got in on some of the action tweeting:
