Shop and Give Back Event
The sisters of Chi Sigma Rho are holding a fundraising event at Darling Lingerie on Saturday, March 9th. 20% of the profits will be donated to The Ronald McDonald House in Danville.
Feel like spicing up your wardrobe while helping a good cause? Then come and see the sisters of Chi Sigma Rho on Saturday, March 9at Darling Lingerie on Main St.
The sisters of Chi Sigma Rho, a local Bloomsburg University sorority, have planned a service fundraiser that will take place at one of the newer shops on Main St., Darling Lingerie. Don’t be fooled by the name, the store sells a variety of products; from lingerie, to makeup, shoes, bandeaus, dresses, Halloween costumes, wigs, etc., and the spring collection has just arrived! The sorority plans to donate 20% of the profits to the Ronald McDonald House in Danville.
Senior Tina Heller, 22, is currently interning at the shop and has taken leadership in coordinating the event for her sorority, “I wanted to think of a way to help promote the store and shine a positive light on it as well. It just helped that I was affiliated with a local sorority on campus, Chi Sigma Rho,” said Heller. “So I thought of the idea that we can have a day of shopping and instead of trying to fundraise for the sorority, we can help and give back to the community. It really was just an idea in my head and the owner of the store, Melanie, supported me 100% and made this idea become a reality.”
The sisters decided to donate to the Ronald McDonald House due to their previous experience of working with them, “Several of us have gone and helped cook and distribute dinner to house guests. We are also in the process of setting up other dates this semester so we can go and help out at the Ronald McDonald House again,” said Heller.
The event is being heavily promoted through the Bloomsburg University Greek Life system, but is completely open to the public and whoever wishes to come. Heller and the rest of the sisters of Chi Sigma Rho have been working hard to make sure that this quirky fundraiser will be filled with fun and adventure. “Chi Sig is responsible for making this day more than just a regular visit to Darling Lingerie; we are providing snacks and refreshments, we’re creating different signs and displays to be posted outside the store and one sister will be documenting the event by taking photographs throughout the whole day,” said Heller.
“I know this event is not as conventional as other fundraisers in the past,” said Heller. “But sometimes new things can be great!” So if you’re feeling adventurous or want to support a great cause, visit the sisters of Chi Sigma Rho on Saturday, March 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Darling Lingerie on 36 East Main St..
