Is Kanye West Leaving Music for Fashion?

Rumors have been spiraling around that Kanye West is planning to leave music to focus on fashion. Though nothing has been confirmed, except for a source that told Page Six, “After his next [collaboration] with Paul McCartney comes out, he’s going to step away from music and concentrate on clothing,” it would not be unimaginable because of his previous work in fashion.
Back in 2011, West had released a womenswear collection with a Paris Fashion Week Show. His collection was spring/summer, but consisted mostly of leather and fur. It was obvious to tell that he was designing for those who are rich and have money to throw away. The following season he had shown more of his DW by Kanye West line, but he cancelled his third showcase and eventually his brand.

In 2013, West launched a menswear collaboration with APC. This line of t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jeans had sold out within hours, crashing the website.

Kanye West has been working with Nike through his Air Yeezy collaboration for a while now, but is allegedly leaving them for Adidas. The same source that told Page Six about him leaving music after his collaboration with Paul McCartney had said, “He got a $15 million signing bonus from Adidas, but his line has been pushed back four times because he hasn’t had enough time to work on it.”
According to Vogue News, Kanye has stated his reason for leaving Nike for Adidas because of royalties. Nike had supposedly denied him royalties because he is not an athlete. West had said, “The old me, without a daughter, would have taken the Nike deal because I just love Nike so much. But the new me, with a daughter, takes the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family.”
Kanye West is clearly confident in his fashion ability because he had stated on the Angie Martinez radio, “I’m going to be bigger than Walmart.” What do you think?
