Bloomsburg Fashion Week?!

It is no secret that the struggle to get up for an 8a.m. class on that blistering Monday morning is absolutely unbearable. Do you ever stop and stare at those girls who somehow managed to put on a nice pair of jeans, knit sweater, and riding boots? Not to mention, their pin straight hair with light reflecting makeup. It is a task that I personally do not see myself ever successfully completing that early in the morning, however I do applaud those that do.
I decided to take it upon myself to talk to students about their outfit choices and what drives their inspiration. I started off by talking to people close to me like roommates and friends, and then branched off to strangers walking around campus. In addition, I snapped a couple photos of some outfit choices that I saw fitting for a normal school day that most people would find comfortable, yet put together.
A trend that I saw to be most prevalent was classic black leggings. I can personally vouch for this article of clothing because I too find myself wearing these almost every day. Student Carly Jaspan said, “They are the easiest to throw on. And they pair with basically everything.”
Also, I noticed that the cooler weather is causing people to break out one of my favorite fashion statements: the flannel. Who wouldn’t be willing to spend two dollars at their local goodwill for a nice oversized flannel? I sure would.
An additional trend I saw floating around campus was workout gear. For example, a pair of spunky sneakers with a comfortable pair of workout leggings and a sweatshirt. What could be better than that?
Many responses I got from students were based around the idea of pure comfort. I quickly realized that my idea of comfort may be totally different than someone else who enjoys wearing their jeans and a cute sweater. Also, a lot of people didn’t hesitate to mention that they have no problem dressing up for class later in the day when they are more awake and ready to take on the day, which I can definitely relate to.
