The Federal Reserve said on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, after a 3 year wait from when it was first announced, that Americans will now have an improved, high tech $100 bill.
The Federal Reserve said on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, after a 3 year wait from when it was first announced, that Americans will now have an improved, high tech $100 bill.
The bill is a mix of a decade long research and design project. The bill has a series of new security measures to reduce counterfeiters, including a blue, 3-D security ribbon on the front of the bill that moves when the note is tilted back and forth and side to side. The inkwell and bell on the front of the bill as well as the number 100 on the right-hand corner also changes from copper to green when the note is tilted.
The new $100 bill will be the fourth time the bill has been redesigned. It was redesigned three times in the last 20 years due to the improved counterfeiting technology.
