Oh, comfort foods. The lovely foods we stuff our faces with whenever we’re feeling down, stressed, overwhelmed, aggravated or even happy (let’s be honest, we just love to eat). As a food lover, and a girl who isn’t afraid to eat her weight in food when she feels the need to—most likely regretting it later, I have created a list of some of the best comfort foods (in my opinion, of course):
This cheesy, delicious, not-so-good-for-you food is without a doubt my go-to. It’s some of my favorite things combined: carbs and cheese. Plus, there are so many different toppings you can get, making pizza satisfying for whatever you’re feeling that day. If you’re an avid ranch lover like me, don’t forget to dip your pizza into it; your day will instantly turn around.
Not to sound so basic here, but chocolate always makes things better. My personal favorite: Kit Kats. But any kind of chocolate will do, whether it’s chocolatey brownies, cake, a milk chocolate Hershey’s bar or Nutella put on whatever you’re feeling that day (toast, pretzels, popcorn, or just on a spoon) it’s all good.
- Potato Chips
When I need that salty fix, you will most definitely see me with a bag of chips. Lay’s wavy chips along with some French Onion dip will fulfil my craving. It takes most of my willpower to restrain myself from eating the entire bag—I’m not trying to feel that regretful.
- French Fries
Continuing with potatoes, but in another form. Bring on the greasy, salty, fast food favorite. Fries are so comforting in the moment, especially when you’re binge eating because of a guy—fries before guys, am I right? But be careful of how much you eat; you will feel the regret later.
- Macaroni and Cheese
Ah, another wonderful combination of cheese and carbs. Whether it’s homemade baked mac and cheese or Craft’s Spongebob mac and cheese, it is all so satisfying. I know the boxed mac and cheese is not a single serving, but if you want to eat the whole box, go for it. I’m guilty of it too.
I could go on and on about comfort foods, and the ones I love to eat but that would make this list never-ending. So, instead, I settled for my top five. If you’re feeling down, or just really want to eat, grab one of these foods, a blanket, and sit on the couch while binge-watching your favorite Netflix series and enjoy it.
