The Roaming Husky: Gilson Summer Snow Day (New Berlin, PA)

A photo from the 4th annual summer snow day.

This is the article I have been waiting to write for a year now. The Gilson Summer Snow Day is one of the best events I have ever attended in central PA because it’s one big party, and it is their way of saying thank you for supporting the company since they have been in business.

The Snow Day is located at the Gilson grounds, just a little outside of New Berlin. There are two options for parking at the event: behind the factory or at a pick-up area in downtown New Berlin. The event is free to attend; the only thing you have to purchase is a cup for free beer. Yes, I said it, free beer! But only for those 21 and older.
If curious about how they make their product, no worries. The company offers tours of the manufacturing facility led by co-owner, Nicholas Gilson. I highly recommend taking this tour when attending the Summer Snow Day.

To make the event even more fun, the company has a ramp with real snow where people can snowboard or ski down after filling out a waiver. It was fun to watch people go down the ramp during July.

The Snow Day offered some good vendors as well as food options, which included gyros and grilled cheese. If you wanted to enjoy your food with some live music, then you were in luck. The Gilson stage featured many great performances including the local duo Runaway Stroller.
What event would be great without swag? The Gilson Summer Snow Day offered some of their own merchandise including the snowboards and skis the company produces. The products they sell, such as t-shirts and coasters, are environmentally friendly.
This event is family-friendly, with a bounce house and other games for the kids. I highly recommend the Snow Day to everyone. Mark your calendars for next July for the Fifth Annual Gilson Summer Snow Day! If you’re going to drink at this event, make sure you have a designated driver.
