The NE Integration Livestream: A Conversation About University Mergers

Faculty, Staff, Administrators, State Representatives, and Students Discuss the Integration of Bloomsburg, Mansfield, and Lock Haven Universities
Bloomsburg, PA—On Nov. 18, 2021, student media from Bloomsburg, Mansfield, and Lock Haven Universities will host a livestream on Bloomsburg University’s Zoom platform to discuss the merger plans of the three schools. The livestream includes four-30-minute segments from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The livestream is hosted on BU’s Zoom platform and can be accessed through the QR code included in this story. It will also be streamed on BUnow’s Facebook page.
Community and campus viewers can submit their questions anonymously before and during the livestream through a Google Form available at this link: https://bit.ly/integrationquestions
Student journalists and media advisors will moderate the livestream.
“The Nov. 18 Livestream is the perfect forum to have your questions about the integration answered by the people who should know-university administrators, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Richard Ganahl, founding faculty advisor of BUnow, BU’s online news site.
Some of 16 confirmed panelists expected to join the livestream include APSCUF President Jamie Martin, State Representatives Stephanie Borowicz, Clint Owlett, and Dave Millard, BU Provost Diana Rogers-Adkinson, APSCUF Local Campus Presidents Brian Loher, Eric Hawrelak, and Richard Goulet, AFSCME Local Campus Presidents Shawn Makar, Shawn O’Dell, and Mike Wilson, Athletic Directors of BU, LHU and MU, Chief DEI Officer Albert Jones and more.
“On behalf of the three colleges, it is our duty to educate our students, their families, and our respected communities about democracy and to answer questions that may be of any concern,” commented BU student journalist Madelyn Mertz.
Below is the tentative schedule and the panelists’ areas of expertise.
7-7:30 p.m.: Introduction & Campus Administration (Chancellor, Campus President, Campus Provosts, and APSCUF State President)
7:30-8 p.m.: State Representatives
8-8:30 p.m.: Faculty and Staff Leadership (Campus APSCUF Presidents and Campus AFSCME Presidents
8:30-9 p.m.: Campus Athletic Directors and Multicultural Affairs
“The NE Integration is a huge challenge for our communities in many different aspects. We strongly believe that our conversational livestream has the potential to help these three campus communities better understand what’s at stake, and what’s to come in the near future,” predicted Mertz.
