The Little Reason We Should All Watch This Year’s Award Season

I’ve always been into award shows, and I’ve never known anyone else who was, discounting MTV’s VMAs. As a film savant, I’ve always found them exciting and used them as a base for what films and TV shows I needed to watch. There’s plenty of great films that don’t receive the attention they should (ahem, Me Earl and the Dying Girl, The End of the Tour, and Diary of a Teenage Girl), but there’s also plenty of those that do. Usually, there’s only one or two films I’ve seen before the award season starts, so I end up rooting for my favorite actors, like Daniel Day-Lewis, Christian Bale, Kate Winslet, Kevin Spacey, Amy Adams, and poor, Oscar-less Leonardo DiCaprio.
For those of you who think they’re stupid, useless, and an overall waste of time, there’s one thing this years’ season has going for it: Jacob Tremblay.
Tremblay is just 9 years old, and has already won a Critics’ Choice Award for his role as Jack in 2015’s Room. He has already accomplished more in his life than most of us have and is so gracious and humble while doing it. If you haven’t yet seen his acceptance speech, you should watch it now, but be prepared for all his adorableness.
Besides being jealous of his success, I’m also jealous of all his famous friends. His Instagram is filled with pictures with some gorgeous, talented stars, but he still steals the attention with his precious smile.

The SAG Awards and Golden Globes may have already aired, but there’s plenty more award shows left. Here’s what’s left of this year’s Award Season:
Writers Guild Awards: Feb. 13
BAFTA Film Awards: Feb. 14
Grammys: Feb. 15
Independent Spirit Awards: Feb. 27
Academy Awards (Oscars): Feb. 28
MTV Movie Awards: April 10
MTV VMAs: August 28
Tony Awards: June 12
Primetime Emmy’s: Sept. 18
Jacob is not up for any other awards this season but there’s no doubt he’ll make his endearing presence known at the rest of these shows.
