What was predicted to be a pitching duel between two former Cy Young Award winners turned into a one-sided affair favoring Boston. Boston’s David Price out-pitched LA’s Clayton Kershaw after giving up a lead off home run to David Freese to start the game. Price would go on to pitch into the eighth inning, striking out five and giving up only one run. His performance in this series redefined his ability to pitch in October.
Boston’s bats backed Price up big time with four home runs. Two of the four homers came off the bat of their unsung hero and World Series MVP, Steve Pearce. Pearce had an unbelievably impressive two-game stretch to cap off the series. In the last two games, Pearce went 4-8 at the plate knocking in 7 RBIs with 3 HRs.
