Thanksgiving Packing

With Thanksgiving break quickly approaching, many of us have yet to think of what we’re going to pack. Unless you have your own car here on campus, you’re probably limited to what you can bring home for the weekend. If you pack smart, you will have more room to bring home laundry and return to campus with leftovers, and extras you picked up at home over the break.

Many of the students here at Bloomsburg are either leaving Friday night, Monday night, or early Tuesday morning. You want to make sure that you have enough clean outfits for the week before leaving for home.

For Thanksgiving, pick the most comfortable but still cutest, clothes that you have. Most of us are trying to maximize their eating capacity for this day, so the more stretchy the clothes, the better.

We all know the day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday. Let’s face it ladies, most of us are going to be awake all night on this day. Pick something comfy and cute. Layering leggings with a tank top and sweater means you can change quickly in the dressing rooms.

We all want to maximize the space in our suitcases. Try to pack items that are versatile, that can be worn dressy or comfy. This way you can pack fewer items, and mix and match your clothes.

Since this is a weekend away from school, you might have some downtime. Bring home your laptop/kindle/nook/iPad, and get some use out of them this weekend. Yet, on the other hand, we all know that when we get back from Thanksgiving weekend, it’s crunch time before finals. Bring a couple light assignments home, to try to get something’s done so you are a little bit ahead.

Lastly, there’s what not to pack. Leave behind the bulky items that someone will have at home. You don’t need to bring home shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, blow-dryer, etc., because they will take up too much space in your suitcase.

All in all, keep in mind that you are going home, not on vacation.
