Taylor Swift Premieres “Bad Blood” Music Video

This past Sunday, Taylor Swift premiered her highly anticipated “Bad Blood” music video during the 2015 Billboard Music Awards held in Las Vegas. The song “Bad Blood” comes off of her record-breaking album 1989. The video contains a star-studded cast including Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Cindy Crawford, Gigi Hadid, Jessica Alba, and many more. However, in the newly unveiled video the song is remixed with verses by Kendrick Lamar. The video, which is rumored to be about Katy Perry, has gone on to reach over 20 million views on YouTube in the past two days. The feud started when Perry allegedly stole Swift’s backup dancers from her tour. When Swift opened up about the “Bad Blood” track, Perry shot back with references from Mean Girls saying, “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing.”
The music video features Swift and Gomez as the main characters in a battle against one another, hence “Bad Blood.” Swift then gathers up her crew to prepare to duel Gomez at the end of the video. Not only is this music video a big change for Swift, but it symbolizes her cross-over into the pop world. Her fierce presence and action-packed video leave many to look at Swift in a different light than before.
Taylor’s transition into the pop realm comes from her fifth album, 1989, which has gone on to sell over 1.28 million copies in its first week alone. Swift is no longer the innocent, country princess but rather a pop superstar. It seems as though Swift has a large group of celebrities and friends behind her, and her fans have nothing but mad love for her, too.
