Women’s Softball Ends Season: 50-8

The legendary coaching career of Bloomsburg University’s Jan Hutchinson came to an end at the 2010 NCAA Division II national softball championships on Saturday when the Huskies lost to Angelo State by a score of 5-4 in eight innings. The loss eliminated the Huskies from the tournament.

BU Softball Wins Atlantic Super Regional

Pitcher Shavaun Fisher (Coplay, Allentown Central Catholic) threw a seven-hit shutout and Emily Young (Nescopeck, Central Columbia) drove in two first-inning runs to help Bloomsburg University to a 7-0 win over California, Pa. University in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Super Regional championships. Bloomsburg won the best of three series two games to none and now advances to next week’s national championship round in St. Joseph, Missouri, May 27-31.

BU Softball Wins NCAA D-II Regional Opener

Pitcher Shavaun Fisher (Coplay, Allentown Central Catholic) threw a two-hitter and hit a solo homer and Sam Pientack (Archbald, Valley View) went 3-3 with three runs batted in to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a 9-0 win over California, Pa. in game one of the best of three NCAA Division II Atlantic Super Regional series at Bloomsburg.

BU Announces This Year’s Top Athletes

Bloomsburg University has announced its top male and female student-athletes for the 2009-10 sports season as well as the most valuable players of its sports teams.

BU Womens Soccer Coach Living her Dream

Many have a fear of lightning but no one is as deathly afraid of it as coach Dickson. Coach Dickson being a soccer coach and playing outside ran into her biggest fear sometimes lightening. Captain Kelly Modes, senior women’s soccer player remembered, “As a freshman she ran away from the team after she saw a lightning bolt near the field and as a freshman I could not do anything else but laugh that my new coach just ran away and left us there.”

Oxenrider Leads Women’s Basketball Team to Win

The Women's basketball team beat Mansfield University 74-54. In the game Kayla Oxenrider scored a game high 19 points to lead the Huskies to the victory.

Huskies Falls to Gannon In Football Finale

The Huskies lost in overtime, 10-7 Saturday afternoon. The Huskies matched up against Gannon lost not only the game, but their change of making the Division II football playoffs this year as well.
