Taylor Swift, notorious for dating pop stars and then writing break up songs about them, has recently made her classic bitterness for her exes even more public.

The 2013 MTV Music Video Awards Show was her stage for calling out one of her most recent and most popular exes, Harry Styles of the English boy band One Direction.

One Direction took the stage to present the award for Best Pop Video to Swift’s best friend, Selena Gomez. A moment after they appeared, the camera panned to Swift mouthing “shut the f**k up.”

The stunt seemed a little too immature for the naturally composed 23-year-old singer, so friend and English pop star Ed Sheeran vouched for Swift.  Sheeran told the press that her slip of the tongue was a friendly reinforcement for her partner in crime, Gomez, who was second guessing herself on winning the award.

Later in the show, Swift shuffled up more controversy when she accepted her award for Best Female Video for her hit single “I Knew You Were Trouble” by calling out Styles in her thank you speech.

“I also want to thank the person who inspired this song, who knows exactly who he is, because now I got one of these,” said the pop-country singer.

Swift’s comment was surprisingly bitter considering the two had broken up more than seven months ago in Jan. 2013. Perhaps being called out by rapper Kanye West at the 2009 VMA’s fueled Swift’s confidence when taking a stab at her former One Direction beau during the 2013 VMA’s.

Following the VMA drama, Swift and Styles still attended the same after party with Ed Sheeran as their buffer, keeping the two from bumping heads once again. After dating Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, and many more song-inspiring men, her break up with Styles seems to be the longest lover’s quarrel she has allowed to stay public.

Though Swift was trying to take a stab at Styles, she ended up glorifying him as the polite and sweet English boy he is.

It may be a misunderstanding, but Directioners (serious One Direction fans) share their hatred for Swift trying to insult their heartthrob more than when the two were a couple. In a review of the new “One Direction: This Is Us” movie by the Waunakee Tribune, the writer says that the audience booed Swift in a Diet Coke ad before the movie began.

According to Perez Hilton, Styles responded to his ex’s low blows kindly. “It’s alright. She likes a joke, so… I like a joke as much as the next guy, so it’s all good,” said Styles on Hilton’s blog.

When the couple initially broke up in January, Styles was prepared to be a scorned lyric in one of Swift’s typical break up songs. “It would be hypocritical for me to say she couldn’t do it because everybody writes songs based on personal experience,” Styles told Gossip Magazine.

Styles also recently told the press she is a great song writer and is happy for her success with “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

Swift’s malicious attitude towards the calm One Direction sweetheart promises that this will not be the last we hear of the two butting heads.
