Sunday Style Icon: Anne Hathaway

Sophisticated, structured and sexy – three vital characteristics all women long for in creating an everlasting style. But to encompass all three, she must be… well, she must be Anne Hathaway. Since her Hollywood debut as the star in The Princess Diaries, Hathaway has maintained her title as America’s sweetest style icon. Born and raised in Brooklyn, her undeniable interest in the fashion industry is portrayed in both her couture and ready-to-wear looks. Here are some of her most note-worthy appearances:

Anne Hathaway poses on set in The Princess Diaries (2001). The gown was custom-made by the sequel’s costume designer, Gary Jones.

From the 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada, Hathaway’s popularity in the fashion industry skyrocketed. She worked hand-in-hand with Patricia Fields, the costume designer.

Hathaway was featured for the October 2008 issue of W Magazine. The actress was photographed by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Camilla Nickerson.

At age 26, she takes the January 2009 cover of Vogue. Photographed by Mario Testino.

As a true fashionista, Hathaway takes pride in designers such as Lanvin, Oscar de la Renta and Armani Prive. But her friendship with Valentino is far beyond fashion preferences. Hathaway often wears Valentino’s most recent collections to red carpet events and premieres and later enjoying a cocktail with him afterwards!

Here, she is pictured out and about in NYC sporting a casual look with a red Marilyn Monroe t-shirt and distressed, cropped boyfriend jeans. Hathway adds her touch of sophistication with the Chanel bag and clear Lucite heels.

Sophisticated, structured and sexy – she epitomizes it again. Her role as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises (2012) added the ‘sexy’ to her style. Mysterious too… might I add.

She arrives wearing Prabal Gurung for the Dark Knight Rises premiere. And look, it’s a pixie! If you thought she was stylish before, Hathaway’s new haircut adds the finishing touches to her sweetheart look.

Photographed with the English designer, Stella McCartney, Anne Hathaway continues to look chic and casual with an all white ensemble, nude patent leather heels and the classic black Ray Ban sunglasses.

She also wore a Stella McCartney dress for her guest appearance on David Letterman’s late night show.

When creating a sophisticated, structured and sexy style, remember to allow yourself to evolve. Without change, there is no gain! Don’t be afraid to try something different like a new haircut or color. For a weekend shopping trip, destroy your boyfriend’s old jeans and throw on a pair of stilettos. Refer to Anne’s looks and remember, less is more!
