Will Ben Simmons Make his NBA debut this season?

There has been a lot of speculation that Ben Simmons will finally make his anticipated NBA debut soon, but that is still up in the air. Ben Simmons suffered an injury to the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot during training camp. The timeline for his return was a three to five months. After getting another update on Simmons’s foot on Jan. 23, he is still not ready to suit up. According to NBA sources, he will get another scan on Feb. 23 to see if his foot is completely healed.
Recently, Simmons participated in 5-on-5 drills for the first time to help with his conditioning & rehab process. However, there is still no set timetable for Simmons’ NBA debut and the Sixers organization is clearly not in a rush.
Philadelphia’s GM Brian Colangelo released a statement on Ben Simmons’ status saying that they will continue to monitor the recovery of Ben’s injury. Colangelo said that they will move forward with the status of his injury once they get the results from his upcoming CT scan. The whole Sixers organization is primary concerned with the long term health of Simmons.
Even though Brett Brown, head coach of the Sixers, said “We do expect him to play this year,” many Sixers fans believe they will have to wait until the 2017-18 season to see their future franchise player. Sixers fans are accustomed to seeing their top lottery picks not play their rookie season, so hopefully next season is different. Sixers fans should continue to trust the process.
