Collins signs with Nets

History has finally been made in the NBA. Stanford graduate and 7’0’’ center Jason Collins, has just signed a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets, making him the first openly gay athlete in any of the four major sports.
BUnow.com reported on Collins coming out as being gay in April of 2013 (https://bunow.com/52102-jason-collins-announces-im-gay), and he has been a free agent ever since, while still working out and staying in basketball shape. Collins received high praise from big-name celebrities such as Kobe Bryant and former President Bill Clinton for showing courage in publicly coming out in front of his peers.
The Los Angeles native was drafted 18th overall by the Houston in the 2001 NBA draft and was traded to the New Jersey Nets. Collins’ career averages are 3.6 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game.
