Celebrity’s Son Selects UCLA

On Wednesday, the day that most high school football players had dreamed of finally arrived; National Signing Day. High school recruits from all over the country picked up the pen, signed their names and wore the hats of the schools that they were going to attend.

Of all the signings that took place, the one that stood out the most was Cordell Broadus’ signature. Broadus is the son of the famous rapper Snoop Dogg. Yesterday, the Bishop Gorman high school standout officially signed his letter of intent to play college football for the UCLA Bruins.

A four-star wide receiver at Bishop Gorman, Broadus displayed his Division-I talents. In his four seasons, Broadus made 139 receptions for 1,810-yards and hauled in 26 touchdown receptions. He also finished his high school career as the 27th ranked wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2015.

What made this signing bittersweet? Well, Snoop Dogg is a diehard fan of the USC Trojans, UCLA’s biggest rival. However, when Broadus signed a letter of intent to play there, Snoop unselfishly supported his son during his biggest moment.

During the father-son interview, Snoop displayed more of his appreciation by throwing on a UCLA jersey. “I’m throwing all of my USC drawers away, I’m going UCLA 100,000% baby,” said Snoop. When the fall rolls around, Cordell will be wearing a UCLA jersey for real.

Other big names include USC defensive tackle Rasheem Green, Auburn linebacker Jeffery Holland, Ohio State offensive tackle Isaiah Prince, and Florida defensive end CeCe Jefferson. When the 2015 season kicks off, these young men will begin their journeys in building successful college careers.
