Alfredsson Hangs Up the Skates

On Thursday afternoon, long time Ottawa Senator forward Daniel Alfredsson announced his retirement from the National Hockey League. “Alfie,” as he was nicknamed, played 18 seasons in the NHL. Of those seasons, 17 of them were with the Senators and only one was spent with a different team, the Detroit Red Wings. Alfredsson skated with the Senators in pre-game warmups one last time on Thursday night, when the Senators hosted the New York Islanders. His stats are just one thing that made him great. He played 1,178 games in a Senators uniform, scored 426 goals, 682 assists, and had a combined 1,108 points with the team. Alfredsson will always be remembered as one of the NHL’s greatest players.
