SIRI World Changing Technology

In December 2007, software that would change the world was founded by Dag Kittlaus (CEO), Adam Cheyer (VP Engineering), and Tom Gruber (CTO/ VP Designer). According to Wall Street Journal, it is a spin off from SRI international artificial intelligence center, and an off shoot of the DARPA founded CALO project. Yes we are talking about the oh-so smart SIRI software that you can only have on the brand new IPhone 4S. This quote from Apples website says it all “Your intelligent assistant that helps you get things done just by asking.”
According to FTC (Federal Trade Commission) Apple bought SIRI around April 2010 for around 200 million dollars. This was an attempt to step it up against Google and it did just that. Google is now trying to create their own application assistant.
Was it worth it? At first, not many people who bought the new IPhone 4S did so just for SIRI but once they had it in their grasps they realized how powerful and funny SIRI was, according to Mashable Tech. So I would have to say yes! This software can do a number of tasks by voice command including; Check the weather, check the stocks, send messaging, send email, browse your contacts, play music, edit your calendar, get a taxi, buy movie tickets, etc. However, my favorite thing about SIRI is that it feels like you are actually talking to a person (natural speaking). SIRI responds with emotions and sarcasm, it’s about as real as it gets while talking to a gadget. It will learn your name and the name of your loved ones (or people you’re not too fond of) so that you can have an easier time communicating with this device. Apple wanted it to seem like you were talking to an actual person to help you with every little step of your life, according to Appleinsider . Here’s a little insight on how to operate SIRI told by Huff Post Tech, “SIRI is activated by holding the “home” button. The user then asks a question or makes a demand, like “Do I need a raincoat today?” or “Wake me up tomorrow at 6 a.m.,” and SIRI delivers.” Now the last thing for you to do to see if you like it is to try it out yourself!
