Remember being seniors in high school and how we were all under the impression that we had insane cases of “senioritis?”
As a senior in college, I now have realized what I thought was senioritis back then is nothing now. It’s almost funny to look back, considering at that point in time we already had our college choices made, and our biggest decisions were what comforter to get for the dorms.
As a senior in college, our professors continue to assign us daily discussions, individual projects, group projects, presentations, and what seems like busy work. Then, on top of that, we are all most likely looking for full-time jobs for after graduation.
So when we’re assigned schoolwork, it’s almost impossible to complete your best work. I’m curious if professors remember how time-consuming job hunting is?
Even going to class becomes a struggle. We’re out here trying to enjoy our last few months before the real world starts. If this means losing a few points, so be it. In the grand scheme of things, I’m not too sure it will matter in the long run.
We’ve all gotten to the point where we like to do the bare minimum if at all possible. We also have completely mastered the great art of procrastination after four (maybe five) years of undergrad.
Some may call it being lazy, but how is one supposed to find time for all the assignments being thrown their way while also managing so many different aspects of life?
While I fully understand (and support) senioritis, I figured I would add a few suggestions as to how to manage it.
- Continue to use your planner, you can’t afford to miss any important dates
- TRY to limit your going out nights
- Apply for jobs regularly
- Keep up with your school work, your grades still do matter (Until May 13)
- Find time to relax and think about absolutely nothing school related
- Go to class, you’re paying too much to just skip all the time
- Continue building relationships anywhere you go
- Never settle for less than you deserve
Senioritis is real, but it is also manageable. Make sure to continue to do your best within your last few weeks here at Bloomsburg University.
