Selena Gomez to Star in Netflix Mini-Series Based on 13 Reasons Why

Finally, Jay Asher’s bestselling young adult book, 13 Reasons Why is making it to the screen. Our teenage selves are exploding with joy right now and rightfully so. There have been rumors since 2011 that there would be a film adaptation of the book starring Selena Gomez. However, the now confirmed adaptation is even better than a film, and Gomez is still set to star.
Cosmo has confirmed that 13 Reasons Why is going to be turned into a mini-series for Netflix. Gomez is set to both star and executive produce the mini-series, and the pilot was written by a Pulitzer Prize winner, Brian Yorker. They’re pulling out all the stops for this much anticipated and well overdue mini-series, and having it adapted to a Netlifx series is the icing on the cake.
For those of you who have yet to read the book, 13 Reasons Why is based on the main character, Hannah Baker’s suicide and the 13 cassette tapes she recorded prior to her suicide, each containing a different reason/person responsible for her decision to end her life. It follows Clay, a boy who longtime crushed on Baker and his listening to the tapes. It is twisted yes, but in the most amazing way. The book tackles many issues teens face every day and struggle to cope with.
Gomez is going to star as Hannah Baker, but there is no word of who will star as Clay, but we know if he’s going to star beside Gomez it’s going to be someone hot (so, get excited ladies and gents). There is no release date yet, so if you haven’t read the book, or you want to reread (for the second, or third or fourth time…) you have plenty of time. Thank you, Netflix, for allowing us to not only enjoy the book in the comfort of our own homes, but now the screen adaptation.
Keep your eyes and ears out for more details.
