Around noon on Thursday, March 11, a group of conservative Christian protestors held signs in front of the Warren Student Services Center. The demonstrators held signs preaching a traditionalist view of the role of women, saying that women “belong in the kitchen,” and that women should be obedient to men. Other signs included a list of groups of people that they believe will go to Hell and other messages that preached a particularly sexist view of women and an extremely conservative version of Christianity. One eyewitness reported that she “got yelled at for wearing a tank top.” None of the conservative protestors wore masks, despite the state mandate.

Many students reacted to this group by gathering together in front of the SSC with rainbow flags and boom boxes playing loud music to drown out the protestors’ preaching.
