Redskins QB Alex Smith endures season ending injury

Alex Smith suffered two broken bones in his right leg in the third quarter against the Texans. Coach Jay Gruden confirmed after the game Alex Smith broke his tibia and fibula and would need immediate surgery.

Smith was injured when Texans’ J.J Watt and Kareem Jackson sacked him in the third quarter. The Redskins and Texans players took a knee when Alex Smith remained on the ground. Players on both team came to give him support as he was carted off the field. Alex Smith waved to the crowd before he was carted into the tunnel.

With their loss Sunday to the Texans, the ‘Skins are now 6-4 and are without their starting quarterback for the crucial second half of the season.
