Skechers has completely outdone themselves with a new technological filled training shoe called “Pro-TR.” With society focusing a majority of its attention on fitness, Skechers has answered our prayers with this amazing pair of sneakers. BUnow received a pair of Skechers Pro TRs from the Skechers Fitness group and we’ve decided to put them to the test.
When ordering, I decided to go a little bigger than I normally do. I would rather my shoe be on the looser side than on the smaller. Luckily I did so, because I feel like these shoes run a little small, and it actually ended up fitting perfectly on me. I suggest to you that you do the same.
When first opening the shoe box, I was a bit skeptical, because I have seen toning shoes before, and they all looked a little bulky. I was pleasantly surprised at the sleek and sport design of the shoe. The color scheme of the sneakers I received was a majority of a light and dark grey with hot pink on the bottoms, tongue and inside. I liked the fact that the shoes came with white and pink laces, just in case you felt like changing up the style. After looking at the overall appearance of the shoe, I decided to try them on to see how they felt. I loved how cozy they were. The padded tongue made the shoe fit perfectly.
Once the shoes were on, it was time to try them out. It was a beautiful day out, so I took my exercise outdoors. First, I decided to just walk to get the feel for them. I knew that the intention of the shoe was mainly for running, so I didn’t have high expectations. It was kind of an adjustment to get the feel for the shoes. It felt like the middle of my foot was hitting the ground before anything else. I remembered reading that while running, the middle of my foot would hit the ground first, which allowed me to boost forward. It didn’t take long at all for me to feel completely comfortable walking in these shoes. I walked on a relatively flat surface for about an hour. I didn’t feel anything different than I would when walking with any type of shoe. Like I said, the intention is for a high intensity work out, so I was only a little bummed about this. Because of the lack of results, I started running and really felt a difference in the resistance the shoes provided. I definitely felt parts of my legs being worked that I never noticed before. I was extremely pleased with this first outing.
I usually run on the treadmill when I go to the gym, so I wanted to see if it had the same effect as running outside. Sure enough, I felt the same muscles being worked out as I had the day before. I was extremely pleased, because I like having the option of running indoors when the weather is nasty. After my go at the treadmill, I wanted to test out the other machines in the gym. I like going on the elliptical, so that was my next stop. I noticed that my calves burned much more than normal. It was a refreshing change.
Every day, I walk up the relatively steep hill to upper campus. It gets you a little out of breath, but nothing too intense. I walked up the hill just wearing a regular pair of boots without hesitation. I thought it might be a good idea to give the sneakers a try to see if there was a difference. I huffed and puffed all the way up that hill with them on. I couldn’t believe that change in strain I was getting just with a pair of sneakers. I can definitely say it was from the shoes, because I had no problem with the hill earlier in my regular boots. This made me extremely happy, because I felt like I was getting such a better workout for my every day walk.
I wouldn’t recommend this shoe, if you’re just looking to get a tone from your average walks throughout the day. It proved to be a good training shoe for running, elevations, and lunging. Overall, I’m happy with these shoes. You can’t expect miracles, but you can expect some improvements to your workouts. They are definitely worth it in my opinion.
