Halloween Must-Watch Movies

It’s finally here: Halloween. It’s a much-needed break from mid-terms, homework, work, etc. And, what better way to unwind on Halloween than with awesome Halloween classic movies? There are a few classics everyone needs to make time for this Halloween and here they are:

  1. Hocus Pocus

It is a sin to let Halloween pass by without watching this movie about everyone’s favorite witches: The Sanderson Sisters. We all can’t help but sing along when we hear, “I put a spell on you…” and who didn’t have a crush on Max back in the day (and now)?

  1. Halloweentown Series (except the last one)

This Disney Channel Original Movie series has become a Halloween staple for kids, adults, and college students alike. There is something so enchanting about Marnie, the young witch, and a town where it is always Halloween. Grammy Cromwell, played by Debbie Reynolds, is the witch grandma we all wished for as kids. If you only have time to watch one, watch the first one, obviously. But, if you have time watch them all, except for the fourth one when they thought we wouldn’t notice Marnie was suddenly played a totally different girl.

  1. Something that scares you

While Halloween is most certainly about eating too much candy, dressing up in cute costumes, and carving pumpkins, it’s also about being scared! So, be sure to watch at least one movie that creeps you out, even if it’s only through spaces between your fingers. Some examples are any of the classic Halloween movies starring Michael Myers, Friday the 13th, Freddy vs. Jason, or some newer ones like The Purge movies or Ouija.

  1. Disney Channel Halloween Original Moviesdisney

It’s already been made clear that we need to watch Halloweentown this weekend, but we cannot forget about the other amazing Disney Channel Halloween classics. Does everyone remember Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire? Twitches? Phantom of the Mexaplex? Don’t Look Under the Bed? These are all great Halloween must-watch movies.

  1. Tim Burton Movies

Of course, The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Halloween classic, but many of Tim Burton’s other movies serve as fantastic spooky movies to watch this weekend. Some other Tim Burton movies to watch this Halloween are Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, Edward Scissorhands, and Beetlejuice. They may not necessarily be “Halloween movies,” but they have a spooky, creepy, Halloween feel.

There’s plenty more movies you can binge-watch this Halloween, but these are the essentials. Eat some Halloween candy, dress up if you wish, and get comfy on the couch to have a good laugh or scare with one of these (or all of these) Halloween movies.
