News was spilled by an unnamed source to the Associated Press that Beyoncé is set to perform at this year’s Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans Feb. 3. The pop star is no stranger to the super bowl.

In 2004, the 31-year-old sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl XXXVIII in her hometown of Houston when the New England Patriots defeated the Carolina Panthers.Featured performers could include Jay-Z, and close friends Michelle Williams, and Kelly Rowland, formally known as Destiny’sChild.

Janet Jackson & Justin Timberlake “Wardrobe malfunction”

Beyoncé has a chance to create a memorable performance that will restore integrity the highly coveted time slot.

Since the 2004 “wardrobe malfunction” by Janet Jackson, and Justin Timberlake, when Jacksons breast was exposed for the world to see; modern pop acts have not been featured during halftime performances that is, until Super Bowl XIV when the Black Eyed Peas took the stage, and Super Bowl XLVI, when Madonna performed with guests CeeLo Green,LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A.

MIA Flashing the middle finger to audiences

Madonna’s performance drew in 114 million viewers. Unfortunately, what should have  been a noteworthy performance, left a sour streak, when M.I.A flashed the middle finger, almost making it fashionable for pop artists to create controversy during Super Bowl halftime performances.

The International pop star is a great choice for NFL to headline the halftime show.  She has 16 Grammy’s for  songs such as, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” “Halo ” and “Crazy in Love.”

Beyonce has earned the respect of our President, Barack Obama. In September Beyoncé and Husband hosted a fundraiser in support for Obama’s campaign at Jay-Z’s 40/40 club. She was also a key part in the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign.

The Iconic star will be sure to draw in a large viewing, and create one the most memorable performances of our time.
