‘Nightmare’ or ‘Dream’? Reactions to Block Party Videos

Before any prospective Bloomsburg student officially committed to attend school, they heard rumors of Block Party and saw pictures and videos of the event.

A simple Google search draws up results such as of videos, news stories, images of debauchery, and a definition on Urban Dictionary.

Three Block Party Insider reporters shared a status on Facebook that asked followers to watch the “I’m Shmacked- Bloomsburg Block Party 2015” YouTube video. Here are some of the comments we received:

“Videography was great. But portrays Bloom as drink drank drunk” — college student, Alaina Kovacz.

“Parents nightmare, college bound kid…dream” — Facebook user Joanne Langello Lamplugh.

The Block Party Insider reporter then posted another status hoping for more input. She asked her followers if they’ve ever heard of Block Party and if so, what did they know about it? Several comments were received. Some in favor of, and others in opposition to the event. Here are the comments we received:

“As a great time” —  Penn State Berks student, Nick Knight.

“As an excuse for kids to drink too much” — Bloomsburg resident Donna Gillaspy.

The video with the most views on YouTube is “Red Cup Nation – Bloomsburg Block Party 2013” with 429,951 total views since it was posted two years ago. Comments varied from:

“That was the best block party ever” — YouTube user Christian Prune.

“Who the f*** parties so hard to get the swat team out” — YouTube user Walmart1000toShop.
