Teen Gets First Penis Reduction Surgery Ever

“There comes a time in every urologists career that a patient makes a request that leaves a physician speechless. That question was ‘can you make my penis smaller’.” – Rafael Carrion, urologist at the University of South Florida, told DailyMail.
An odd request by most men’s standards: why in the world would anyone want a smaller penis? For a 17-year-old in Florida, it was a dream come true when the answer was “yes.”
The unidentified patient had a penis that was seven inches long and ten inches in diameter when flaccid. It was approximately the size of a grapefruit and the shape of a football. Although very large, the penis did not become larger when erect, just firmer. The uncomfortably large size of his penis made it difficult to play sports and wear normal pants. In addition, his large penis made it impossible to have sex: a nightmare for most teen males.
The patient had suffered from priapism which Merriam-Webster defines as an abnormal often painful persistent erection of the penis. He had experienced this three times since he was ten, which left his penis bloated and misshapen.
This was the first Penis Reduction Surgery in the World which of course left Dr. Carrion a little baffled as how to go about it. DailyMail quotes Carrion saying “Lord knows there’s a global race on how to make it longer and thicker in plastic surgery circles, but very little on how to make it smaller,” he said. He and his team ended up “opting to slice along the patient’s circumcision scar, unwrap the skin, and then remove chunks of tissue from each side.”
The surgery was a success leaving the teen with a slightly above average size, but ‘cosmetically appealing’ member. The Doctor noted that the patient was “all smiles” and very happy with the results.
Another man has approached Dr. Carrion with a similar penis-reduction request. The new patient’s manhood has no health problems associated with it, which makes the decision to operate, or not a gray area. DailyMail quotes Carrion stating , “These are controversial waters we’re stepping in. Who is to judge what a legitimate complaint is and what isn’t? You don’t normally have men complaining about this kind of thing. These are very unique cases.”
Very unique indeed, I for one have never encountered a man who voiced his desire for a smaller penis. If I did, I would probably question his sanity in a world where a larger member is seen as highly sought after. Thankfully for this now surely giddy 17-year-old, we live in an age where medicine and techniques can accomplish a task most men would only experience in their deepest, darkest nightmares.
