Seaside Heights Gets Hit Again

Not long after Seaside’s triumphant recovery from Hurricane Sandy in Oct. 2012, it is being hit again. This time the beloved boardwalk is being struck with a six alarm fire.
It started at one of Seaside’s favorite attractions, Kohr’s Frozen Custard, at 2:30 p.m.
The fire has since spread out of control. Firemen attempted to put a block to stop the fire from spreading, but it has jumped the block and continued up the boardwalk.
“The only way they are going to stop this if they knock down an entire block of the pier,” reported Stephanie Della Torre.
Firemen are doing their best to stop the fire with a block before Lincoln Ave, but it hasn’t been stopped from reaching residents’ homes.
There is a condo six blocks away on fire, and two other homes are inflamed from flying embers.
The bridge into Seaside has been shut down, and there is a potential evacuation of the island. Only emergency vehicles can enter now.
