National Teach-in on Global Warming Solutions to be held BU
The second annual National Teach-In on Global Warming Solutions will be held at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Kehr Union on Thursday, Feb. 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The keynote speech will be given by John C. Dernbach, environmental lawyer and law professor at Widener School of Law.
The second annual National Teach-In on Global Warming Solutions will be held at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Kehr Union on Thursday, Feb. 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The keynote speech will be given by John C. Dernbach, environmental lawyer and law professor at Widener School of Law.
The event is part of a national effort on global warming and will feature faculty, staff and students from BU, as well as speakers from across the state. Events, held in Kehr Union’s Hideaway and Ballroom, include:
9:30 – 10:45 a.m.: Climate Science and Climate Skeptics, Ballroom 1; student debate on national climate legislation, Ballroom 2.
11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.: keynote address by John C. Dernbach, Ballroom 1.
12:30 – 1:45 p.m.: student simulation of the United Nations climate change meetings in Copenhagen, Ballroom 1; Fueling Pennsylvania – Current and Future Trends and Effect on Climate Change, Ballroom 2
2 – 3:15 p.m.: Copenhagen II: What’s Next? A discussion of what will happen after the United Nations Climate Change Conference, Ballroom 1; Hometown Solutions: What BU and you can do about the climate crisis, Ballroom 2.
Also planned is a “green” film festival beginning at 9:40 a.m. in Kehr Union’s Hideaway and featuring four films and free popcorn. Films are National Geographic’s “Human Footprint;” HBO’s “Too Hot Not to Handle;” Warner Independent Picture’s “The 11th Hour” and Oxi Productions’ “Trashed.”
