Many Injured And One Killed After Open Fire in LAX
Bullets fired in LAX airport resulting in the death of one TSA
Shots were fired early this morning at Los Angeles International Airport, ending in the injury of several people, including a TSA worker, as well as the death of one TSA reported so far.
According to NBCLA News witnesses say that eight to ten shots were fired in LAX’s Virgin Airlines terminal, Terminal 3. The shooter was described as a white male, around 6 feet, dressed in all black carrying around an assault rifle. It has be determined that the shooter has been reportedly shot by officials and has been taken into custody after he tried to escape by running away across the tarmac.
As far as police know the man, whose identity and motives are still unknown, was working alone in this act.
A medical triage area was established outside the terminal and all flights have been grounded. Highways near the airport have been closed and all people were evacuated from the area.
The shots were fired around 9:20 a.m. Pacific, 12:20 p.m. Eastern time. Witnesses report that the gunman approached a document checker, then pulled the firearm and fired the first shot at a security guard.
The shooting comes more 10 years after a gunman walked up to a ticket counter for Israel’s national airline, El Al, at LAX, killing two and wounding four in a July 4 terrorist attack.
