An open forum will be held at 5 p.m. tonight at Carver Hall in the K.S. Gross Auditorium.  President Soltz will be announcing the recommendations that were made to him by a three-person panel that researched the homecoming dance incident last fall.  The forum will be available on BU Now though a live stream from any computer that is a part of the Bloom network.  The staff will be providing instant coverage from the event.

The panel was chosen by President Soltz following a incident that involved campus, town, and state police forces last semester at the on-campus homecoming dance held at Kehr Union.   After several students attending the dance were maced and struck by night sticks, allegations were made that the force was racially motivated.

A forum was held last fall so that students could express their disgust about the incident, as well as their on-going frustrations as minority students.  The purpose of tonight’s open forum is to “review the recommendations of the three-member panel and discuss options as we move forward to build a climate of respect and civility at our university,” according to an email from President Soltz sent to the student body.
