One student, Kristen Pulkstenis, 20, said that since the university first alerted students through their emergency broadcast system at 7:55 p.m., “In under 5 minutes, I saw DC police on campus, and in under 15 [minutes], helicopters overhead. The university was sending text, email, and twitter updates roughly every 10 minutes.”

As to the picture of the suspects, Pulkstenis said, “I can tell you that I personally have never seen those people before in my life, and AU is not that big of a community, so it seems unlikely to me that they’re students here.”
