Ariana Grande’s “My Everything” A HIT

Grande's album has been a big hit worldwide, and continues to sell.
Ariana Grande is no longer the young, innocent Nickelodeon star-turned pop singer. Ok, she’s still young (just 21 years old). But she is now a full-fledged star in the music industry that isn’t afraid to get down and dirty in her songs. Her album entitled My Everything was released on August 25th, and has been at the top of the charts from the beginning. It debuted number one on the Billboard top 200 list.
Grande’s first album, Yours Truly, showcased the innocent, sweet singing television actress’ insane vocal range and her ability to charm any and everyone. However, while it was successful and critically acclaimed, it was very subdued and gentle. All of that changed with the release My Everything. She is no longer just the cute girl-next-door musical artist. She is the girl that wants to take you out on the town for the night and have some serious fun. Grande is also the girl you don’t want to cross, or hurt.
While Grande can still sing and hit almost any high note, this album goes deeper, talking about trials of heartbreak and revenge. The 21-year-old explores new beats and mixes genres together with other artists such as Childish Gambino and Iggy Azalea. The collection of songs is definitely an evolution from Grande’s first album. It features the hit songs, Problem (ft. Iggy Azalea) and Bang Bang (ft. Jessie J and Nicki Minaj) that are fun tunes to jam out to at a party. But other, lesser-known songs such as My Everything, Why Try and Break Your Heart Right Back tell powerful stories of romance, love and heartbreak. The songs are relatable to almost anyone, from people who have dealt with relationships, to people who are trying to have some fun.
Overall, My Everything is a well produced, and lyrically clever album. Expect it to be at the top of the charts for a long time, as Grande’s future is one that is exceptionally bright.
