Founded in March 1991, the Manhattan Saxophone Ensemble has performed throughout the United States, weaving the European classical jazz tradition with hard-swinging American jazz. The ensemble features Gunnar Mossblad (tenor saxophone), Steve Wilson, Dave Riekenberg and Tim Ries. In addition to releasing an album, The Dogwalk, the ensemble has recorded with internationally renowned saxophonist David Liebman on his Owl Records release, Classique.
The BU Jazz Ensemble will perform the music of Quincy Jones, and premier two new compositions by ensemble director Stephen Clickard, professor of music, theatre and dance.
