Life of Kylie Docu-Series, Should You Care?

Recently, E! gave Kylie Jenner, makeup mogul and snapchat guru, her own spin-off of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The Docu-series is on 9pm every sunday night, and according to E! News it “reveal[s] the real woman behind all the lip kits, fancy cars, mega mansions, glamorous Instagram photos and filtered Snapchat stories.” To be honest with you, I’m genuinely unsure as to what there is to reveal. We already know so much about Jenner’s personal life. Let’s take a look at all the behind-the-scenes looks we’ve already received from Jenner.
- Snapchat
Jenner posts on Snapchat at least eight to ten times daily. We get to see her relationships with her friends, family, on-and-off boyfriend, and dogs. She also posts updates on her latest hair changes, lip kit restocks, and mini makeup tutorials. If you want to know if she got back together with Tyga or what lip color she’s wearing, that is the place to be.
2. Instagram
Instagram is where Jenner posts all of her outfits of the day- almost every day. She also promotes her makeup, flaunts her relationships, and does ad campaigns for random companies that I highly doubt she’s actually used. For example, remember that time when she lead us to believe that she was using butt crème to get her signature Kardashian figure? After researching the validity of the crème’s claim to “stimulate fat cells in target areas,” I found that there were a lot of doctors who wrote reviews explaining how unrealistic the claims of the crème are.
- Keeping Up With the Kardashians
Keeping Up With the Kardashians is filming almost all year round. In the show we see the everyday lives of Jenner and her famous Kardashain sisters. I haven’t been watching this season, but last season had a lot to do with Kylie. We saw her issues with Tyga, Blac Chyna, and her brother Rob play out in great detail.
- Kylie Jenner App
All of the Kardashians and Jenners launched apps last year, and Kylie was in the lead with the most downloads. On her app, the users get to see more of her relationships with her friends, makeup tutorials, and she also has a little segment called “Cooking with Kylie” (which caused a lot of drama between her and Chyna because Chyna also had a cooking segment on her social media. Why do I know this, you ask? I saw it on Keeping up With the Kardashians!)
We already see Jenner’s life from at least four different angles. What more is there to show? And even if there is more to her to see, do we need to see it? Jenner is a TV personality. She is the goal for many American teenagers. Who wouldn’t want a great body, a fun family, and a multi-million dollar business before the age of 20? TV Personalities are unrealistic goals, we don’t want them to be humanized. We don’t want to see her fears, insecurities, and shortcomings. The superficial version of her life is what intrigues us, and thanks to all the shows and apps above, we already see enough of that.
