One name has been in the news above others lately, and that is the college dropout with a beautiful, dark, and twisted fantasy: Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Ye recently made several comments regarding Jewish people and their alleged control of different institutions.
As a result of which, many companies have formally denounced West and his statements. His bank banned him, talent agencies dropped him, and very powerful men, such as the extremely influential Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, have urged others to completely disassociate with the rapper.
This raises an important question: what did Ye say to warrant this? When did this all begin? Firstly, the rapper has a history of being in the news for his behavior and words. West has been known to follow what he believes is true, despite the social consequences. For example, West supported President Trump in spite of many people allegedly threatening him for doing so.
It all started with a fashion show during the beginning of October that Ye attended with conservative influencer, speaker, and commentator Candace Owens. At this event, the two showcased a new shirt with the phrase “White Lives Matter” on the back and an image of Pope St. John Paul II on the front.
West’s Christian affiliation is well-known, as one of his more recent albums was titled JESUS IS KING. Even before this, one of his most famous tracks on his debut album was Jesus Walks. Many of his comments that caught flak mention his Christian faith.
Following the fashion show, he and fellow rapper Sean Combs, better known as Diddy, engaged in a discussion over the shirt and its implications on other social movements, like the famous Black Lives Matter. West posted screenshots of the messages, in which he called Diddy a “fed”, meaning federal agent. However, Ye’s next comment regarding Diddy would be the one that would ultimately land him in some hot water with both social media and the public.
In the text screenshots, Diddy told him, “Let’s stop playing these internet games. And don’t feel threatened. You’ll be fine. Just love.”
West replied, “This ain’t a game Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me I told you this was war Now gone get you some business.” Instagram was quick to censor this post, which he deleted afterwards.
This deletion did not mean Ye retracted his statement regarding the Jewish people, however. He doubled, tripled, and quadrupled down on them time and time again. Late-night Fox News host Tucker Carlson interviewed West about a variety of topics, such as the shirt, his beliefs, the culture, and in an edited portion, the Jews.
When asked why he made the White Lives Matter shirt, Ye simply replied, “Because they do. It’s the obvious thing.” He also referenced “black genocide” in the form of abortion and claimed fifty percent of black death in American can be attributed to abortion. He went on to discuss the harmful effects of the media, and how they control how people think and act.
In a portion of the interview that was edited out, West referenced Jewish financial power, and claimed the real Jews are black people.
“When I say Jew, I mean the 12 lost tribes of Judah, the blood of Christ, who the people known as the race black really are. This is who our people are. The blood of Christ. This, as a Christian, is my belief.” However, Ye went even further than this with his comments regarding Jews. When Instagram restricted his account, he posted on Twitter that when he wakes up the following morning, he was going to go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE. The funny thing is I actually can’t be antisemitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.” West was locked out of his account before he could go death con 3.
This is the time when the attention to Ye’s comments began to increase dramatically. In a now private video from the podcast Drink Champs, West continued his statements regarding Jews. He began claiming “Jewish people have owned the black voice” through signing deals, getting agents, managers, and record deals from Jews. He attacked “Jewish Zionists” for manufacturing a narrative about him that he is antisemitic, as he hearkened back to the impossibility of him being an antisemite.
Ye went on to participate in numerous interviews, with everyone trying to get him to recant his statements. Everyone has failed thus far. Piers Morgan attempted multiple times to get him to apologize, but West retorted, “What led me to [those comments]? What led me, a person, a successful, influential, extremely, extremely, extremely attractive person to get to that point?”
In numerous paparazzi interviews, West claimed he was merely talking about the “bad business” practices of the Jewish people. In another interview, he stated he came to these conclusions well before sending the tweet, and Ari Emanuel, a Jew, urging businesses to cut him off only emphasizes his point about “bad business”. He also mentions in this interview how “certain people in the media” use the Holocaust and antisemitism to deflect blame from their bad actions.
Companies followed Emanuel’s instructions, as well. Adidas, Balenciaga, CAA, Daily Wire, Gap, JP Morgan, MRC, UTA, and Vogue have all boycotted or dropped Ye.
This all comes as Ye purchased the conservative social media app Parler that intended to rival Twitter. This way, he cannot be banned from stating whatever opinion he wants, as he was on other platforms.
As can be seen, Ye has been in the news recently for good reasons. His comments about the Jewish people have surprised and shocked many, and the repercussions of his actions are already beginning to form. The fact this all happened within the confines of a single month makes this even more stunning. However, one thing remains clear and certain: the world was not ready for Ye to go death con 3.
