Is Coachella Coming to NYC?
Well, sort of: the creators of Coachella Music Festival have announced that they plan on having a music festival called Panorama. Coachella takes place in California; so, they are now bringing a version of it to the east coast. New York may be known for its failed music festivals, but because of the recent success of Governors Ball, Anschutz Entertainment Group has decided to give New York another chance. The music festival is set to happen July 
22 through July 24 on Randall’s Island. Panorama is being billed as “Three days of music, art, technology, and local food offerings,” according to Bilboard.com. “We’re committed to creating an event that will provide significant benefits to New York City with the level of experience and meticulous attention to detail for which Goldenvoice is known.”
If any of this sounds familiar, it’s because it is. Governors Ball, which is a three day music festival that occurs in June on Randall’s Island, has the same offerings. Not only is Panorama going to be in the same place as Governors Ball, but they were planning on scheduling the date of the festival in June two weeks after Governors Ball’s. Due to a petition launched by the creators of Governors Ball, Panorama was forced to change its date from being two weeks after Governors Ball to seven weeks. If Panorama does well, Goldenvoice, the creator of Panorama, wants to create another music festival in the parks of Queens, N.Y. in future years. The lineup for Panorama has not been created yet, however the lineup for Governors Ball has been set. There will be performances from Kanye West, Haim, The Killers, and many more.
Will more people be going to Governors Ball or Panorama? The expected rivalry between the two music festivals will likely be driving up the prices of the tickets.
