Twitter has gone through a series of changes since Elon Musk’s takeover in October of 2022. Since then, he has made some questionable changes regarding the platform’s performance: Twitter Blue subscriptions, character limits, increase in bots, and more. His most recent change was the amount of tweets users can see in a day. The change came from a recent data spike, causing Twitter to run poorly.

“To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits:

  • Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day
  • Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day
  • New unverified accounts to 300/day”

This caused Twitter users outrage knowing this platform may be the most ‘reliable’ source of news and information they receive in their daily lives.

Just days after Musk implemented these changes, Meta announced a new Instagram App coming to the playing field: Threads, an Instagram App.

“Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things — or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.” – Apple App Store

Since Instagram launched back in 2010 (feel old yet?), the platform never had a true space to post discussions and hold conversations. Most social media lovers took to Twitter to hold those conversations, but given the recent Twitter decisions, it’s clear users have had enough and are ready for something new.
