You’ve heard of the Women’s March on Washington, the March for Life on Washington, and now get ready for……the Juggalo March on Washington?

Before diving any deeper, here is some background information. Wikipedia explains that a “Juggalo” is a name given to the fans of the rap group Insane Clown Posse (ICP). The feminine pronoun is “Juggalette.”

Insane Clown Posse is linked with hip hop, horror core, comedy hip hop and rap rock genres. They have been active in the music industry since 1989. The group consists of Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope.

ICP and their family of Juggalos are protesting the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In 2011, the FBI had labeled the Juggalos as a “loosely organized hybrid gang.” Upset with this, ICP has decided to take action and plan the march to take place on Sept. 16 at Washington D.C.’s National Mall.

On the website for the march, it shows a countdown clock and more information about the march. The opening sentence of the home page says,

“This is the day that we are asking every single Juggalo to join us in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., to make a collective statement from the Juggalo Family to the world about what we are and what we are not.”

It goes on to say that Juggalos have suffered from the status of being labeled “gang members” by losing custody of their children, losing their jobs and being turned away in the armed forces.

Spin magazine reported from the march site that this is a peaceful protest and nothing like their other functions such as the Gathering of the Juggalos that takes place every year. They have made it clear that this is not a social event; this is a serious matter and it will be taken as such. There is however, a free concert planned. No artists who choose to participate in the concert will be paid; this is strictly voluntarily. 2 Live Crew, Glasses Malone, ICP, Kung Fu Vampire and Vanilla Ice are currently on the list to perform.

The informational letter ends with the following: “Saturday, September 16, 2017. That is the day we rise up. That is the day we unite to clear our name. That is the day we march. Please be there.”
