Huskies Weekend Recap

Football: The Huskies lost to Shippensburg 34-18 on Thursday, Oct. 31. Senior running back Franklyn Quiteh rushed for 82-yards, and scored one touchdown. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Tim Kelly completed 12 of 32 passes for 152-yards and an interception. Freshman kick returner Lawrence Elliot Jr. took back five kicks for a total of 183-yards. The Huskies next game will be Saturday, Nov. 2 on the road against West Chester. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
Men’s Soccer: The men defeated Shepherd University 2-1 on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Sophomore defender Mike Bamford scored both goals for the Huskies. Senior goalie Bernie Roell recorded eight saves for Bloomsburg. The Huskies then defeated ESU 1-0 on Saturday, Nov. 2. Senior Fran Miller scored the lone goal for the Huskies on their senior day win. Senior goalie Bernie Roell recorded 10 saves and his sixth shutout of the season. Roell finished his college career second all-time in school history with 15 shutouts.
Women’s Soccer: The women defeated Clarion 2-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Senior forward Tara Huber scored a goal, and recorded an assist for Bloomsburg. Freshman forward Jenna Fisher scored the other goal for the Huskies. The women then completed their season by defeating IUP 3-1 on Saturday, Nov. 2. Senior forward Tara Huber scored twice, and senior defender Kelsey Holtz also scored for the Huskies. Huber finished her college career sixth all-time in goals (35), and seventh in points (84).
Field Hockey: The women defeated IUP 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Freshman forward Laura Gerhard scored the game-winning goal for the Huskies. Bloomsburg then defeated Mercyhurst 2-0 on Saturday, Nov. 2. Sophomore midfielder Angie DeBellis and senior forward Brittany Mathews scored for the Huskies. The women will be the fourth seed entering the PSAC Tournament at the end of the week. Bloomsburg will host fifth seed IUP on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The contest will take place at Sports Stadium, and is set for a 4 p.m. start.
