Huskies Defeat Millersville 45-7 on Homecoming Weekend

The Bloomsburg football team defeated Millersville 45-7 in front of a crowd of over 5,300 people on homecoming, Saturday, Oct. 12. Redshirt freshman running back Joe Parsnik tallied 18 carries for 85 yards, while senior running back Franklyn Quiteh scored twice for the Huskies. The only downside of the game was Quiteh injuring his shoulder early in the game and never got into a rhythm, rushing for only 63 yards, his lowest total in a game since 2011.

Also contributing for Bloomsburg on offense was freshman receiver Lawrence Elliott Jr., who returned a punt for 73 -ards for a touchdown. Elliot Jr. also returned a kickoff for 69-yards into Millersville territory. Redshirt sophomore Tim Kelly completed 7 of 13 passes for 84-yards, two touchdowns and an interception. As a team, Bloomsburg collected 292-yards of total offense for the game.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior safety Jonathan Patrick recorded an interception and ran  it back 34-yards for a touchdown. Redshirt junior linebacker Dylan Spangler led the Huskies with eight total tackles. Five Bloomsburg defensive players also recorded at least a half of a sack.

Dan Fisher

In the kicking game, senior Dan Fisher nailed a 31-yard attempt in the second quarter and raised more funds for the Angelman Syndrome Foundation. Those who want to join the cause can donate any dollar amount per field goal the Huskies convert during the season. ‘

The Huskies next game will be Saturday, Oct. 19 on the road against East Stroudsburg. Game time is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
