Huskies defeat Cheyney 35-7 on Parents’ Weekend

Bloomsburg, Pa—The Bloomsburg University football team ran their way to a 35-7 victory over Cheyney University on parents’ weekend. As a team, the Huskies rushed for 282 yards and four touchdowns. Senior running back Franklyn Quiteh ran for 114 of those yards and recorded three rushing touchdowns and caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from redshirt sophomore Tim Kelly. In addition, the Bloomsburg star moved into fifth place all-time in Division II with 6,848 career rushing yards.

Also providing offensive support was Kelly, who completed 10 of 13 pass attempts for 148 yards and a touchdown. Glen Hutton Jr. led the receiving corps with five catches for 61 yards on the day. Redshirt sophomore running back Dai’Shon Munger ran 14 times for 110 yards to help the Husky offense that totaled 447 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, junior defensive back Tomas Cabrera led the Huskies with eight total tackles. Redshirt freshman Ezra Ranco also chipped in, recording an interception and forcing a fumble.

Bloomsburg’s next game will be on Halloween night (Thursday, Oct. 31) at home against Shippensburg. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start and will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network.

The game will be Bloomsburg’s “Ghouls of Gold” night at the Stadium. Fans are invited to wear anything they have that is the color Gold to the game in support of the Huskies. In addition, the University Store will have all gold apparel 30% off on Wednesday, Oct. 30 and Thursday, Oct. 31. Last but not least, all Bloomsburg University students can participate in the Halloween costume contest. A panel of judges will give $1,000 on-campus dining dollars to the best costume.
