He Will Be “Enchanted” to Meet Her

Taylor Swift has captured the hearts of thousands of young boys all over the world, but there is something about Kevin McGuire that makes him different than all of the rest.

Over the last six years, Taylor Swift, 22, has become a house-hold name. Not only has she made her way into our homes, but also our hearts. More recently, she has made it into the heart and soul of 18-year-old Kevin McGuire.

McGuire began his battle with leukemia when he was only 13 years old. He went through an intense amount of treatment and won his battle in 2010. Sadly, McGuire experienced a relapse and is currently battling cancer once again.

No amount of struggle or fear caused McGuire to stop doing what he loved. He continued to play for his high school basketball and varsity football teams in Somerdale, N.J. He is a beloved member in his community, and is referred to as their “superman.”

All of this is described by McGuire’s older sister on a recent Facebook page. His sister explained how nothing makes her brother smile like listening to Taylor Swift’s music. She said it would be his dream to take her to his senior prom, coincidentally on his birthday.

The Facebook and Twitter worlds went crazy for a week. The original page got over 100,000 likes. Not only were McGuire’s friends and family rooting for him, but now thousands of strangers were as well.

Anyone who has watched and loved Swift for the last six years knew that she would not let this heart-warming story go unacknowledged. The world also knew that this was a big request for a singer who is as busy as Swift.

So far in Swift’s career, she has been nominated a total of 162 times, and she has won 102 awards. She set the record of most awarded album in country music history for Fearless, which was the best-selling album of 2008 and 2009. When she was only 19, she became the youngest artist to ever be nominated for, and win, Entertainer of the Year.

Although her life has been very different than most teenagers’, her journey has taken bravery and passion, just like McGuire’s. They have both handled their steps with beauty and grace.

Regardless of whether or not you like Swift’s music, there is no denying that she is one of the sweetest talents there is. This is why when her response to McGuire came, not many were surprised.

She wrote on her Facebook page Friday, “I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM (Academy of Country Music) Awards are coming up. Would you be my date?”

The world’s hearts melted in unison upon reading Swift’s post.

McGuire told Fox29 that he will be attending.
