Kappa Sigma was prepared, rain or shine, for their third ever Hawks for Heroes fundraiser that took place on Friday, Oct. 4, on the Lycoming Lawn.
Students were able to get a cool new look while helping families of injured service members of the US armed forces. Being that Kappa Sigma has brothers in the armed forces, this cause is close to their heart.
When BUnow spoke with Will Brugger, a junior environmental science major and Kappa Sigma brother, he explained how all the money they raise goes to the Fisher House Foundation, a charity best know for building comfortable homes on major military bases and VA medical hospitals across the nation and in Europe. These homes host the family of an injured or sick loved one in the armed forces, during the recuperation period.
Last Kappa Sigma raised $1,300 for this great cause. “If every Kappa Sig chapter could raise {amount}, that could be a big help,” said Brugger.
Between the baked goods, t-shirts, fresh cuts, and sweet beats being pumped out by DJ Mayo, this year’s Hawks for Heroes definitely drew the attention of the passing student body.
