Grace VanderWaals, whose“America’s Got Talent” audition song, “I Don’t Know My Name” which was about bullying she had experienced, probably has many of those bullies feeling very sorry now about their actions towards the young star. According to CNN, on Wednesday, Sept. 14th, Grace VanderWaal was crowned the next winner of “America’s Got Talent”. This means that the young pre-teen has won one million dollars as well as her own headline act in Las Vegas. Grace’s popularity has skyrocketed ever since she auditioned for the show months ago. Not only was Grace loved by all the judges, but she was even told by Grace that he thinks she could be the next Taylor Swift. If that wasn’t enough, fellow America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandell used his golden buzzer pick on the young singer. She was sent straight to the live shows from there.
At her next auditions, Grace shined by continuing to sing original songs that she had written such as “Beautiful Thing” which she wrote for her sister and other originals including songs entitled “Light The Sky” and “Clay.” For her last performance she ended up singing her first audition song again and had the opportunity to introduce Stevie Nicks who sang “Landslide” and gave praise to VanderWaal. According to Heavy.com, Grace’s talent as well as her personality showed through votes as she ended up winning first place. Other acts included The Clairvoyants who came in second place, Jon Dorenboss in third place, Brian Justin Crum in fourth place, and Sal Valentinetti in fifth place. According to Billboard, some of the runners up like Tape Face and Clairvoyants will be able to be at all three of the Vegas shows that Grace will be headlining. While most of the American public who voted and watched “America’s Got Talent” noticed Grace, a famous celebrity also took notice to the young starlet and not only praised her talents but also sent her a congratulatory flower bouquet as a gift. This celebrity was none other than Taylor Swift, the musical talent whom Simon Cowell compared Grace to in her first audition. With winning a million-dollar prize, having a headline Vegas show, and even celebrities like Stevie Nicks and Taylor Swift praising her, I think it can be said that Grace VanderWaal is going places.
